Founded by director Mrs. Zakkiyya Ibrahim in 2017, Education Explorers is a high-quality state licensed home-based early education and out-of-school time care provider accepting children from 2 months to 12 years of age. We are a SPARK 5-star Quality Rated program, a designation reserved for centers that excel in supporting the learning and development of young learners.

Our qualified and nurturing staff create engaging learning environments that encourage children to learn through self-directed play and discovery. Our education approach is influenced by several research-based methodologies, including Montessori, Nature-based learning, and culturally-responsive curriculum. By recognizing each child’s strengths and adapting our approach to their interests, we aim to instill an early love of learning that they will carry throughout their lifetime.

Our low staff-to-student ratios enable us to provide every child with the guidance and attention needed to support their social, physical, emotional, and cognitive development at their individualized pace. Our educators are trained to identify and develop modifications and accommodation for students with special needs as well as learning, perceptual and developmental disabilities. All of our classrooms are sensory-friendly and designed to create a soothing environment appropriate for all students.

As the only 5 star rated, Black-owned early education program in Washington County, we strive to create an inclusive, welcoming environment where children and families of all backgrounds and ethnicities are valued as contributing members of our school community. In line with our holistic educational philosophy, we believe that a diverse staff is essential for promoting equity in educational attainment, especially for children of color.  We seek out highly-trained educators with lived experience as a linguistic or ethnic minority, demonstrated understanding of cultural sensitivity, and fluency in high-demand languages.
